A literary, ecological paddle

LONG EDDY, NY — Join the Delaware Highlands Conservancy and guest Joseph Freda, author of the book “The Patience of Rivers”, on a special Upper Delaware River canoe trip on August 22. The trip will run from Long Eddy down to Callicoon, an area featured in the book. Freda’s award-winning book, set in 1969, is billed as “an irresistible novel about an upstate New York river community and a never-to-be-forgotten summer of change.”

Paddlers will put in at Long Eddy at 9:30 a.m. Take out will be in early afternoon, so participants are asked to bring lunch. Refreshments will be served upon landing in Callicoon and there will be more discussion time with the author.
