A day down on the farm

NORTH BRANCH, NY — The Cornell Cooperative Extension will hold this year’s “Down on the Farm Day” on Saturday, August 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Sykes Farm on Stewart Road.

Ralph and Antoinette and their two sons Tim and Robert operate a 287-acre farm and milk 128 Holstein cows in a milk parlor operation.

Tours of the farm will be held throughout the day along with special hourly demonstrations of milking and haymaking. There will be educational and informational exhibits staffed by members of county agencies. The Sullivan County Dairy Promotion Court will be on hand with dairy treats and the Moo-Juicers 4H Club will exhibit young farm animals.

Lunch will be available for a nominal charge. $1 will be charged per person to help offset costs.
