Sprawl has impact on water resources
LAKE WALLENPAUPACK, PA Gil Herschel of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission will present a program on Managing Growth in Watersheds for the Protection of Water Resources on Wednesday July 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Lacawac Sanctuary. Herschels main focus will be the protection of water resources. He will show current growth trends around the state as well as the impacts of sprawl on water quality and water quantity and discuss how growth can be accommodated while maintaining the integrity of water resources through storm water and floodplain management. Lacawac Sanctuary is a 520-acre nature preserve and historic site offering environmental and historical programs, hiking trails and a native plant garden. Lacawac also offers tours of its historic buildings and glacial lake on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. throughout the summer.
