Meszler plays jazzy guitar on a summers evening
HONESDALE, PA Rembert Meszler and friends will perform on July 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Central Park as part of the Summer Festival of Events, sponsored by the Wayne County Creative Arts Council.
Meszler has been performing as a solo artist and in rock bands and jazz and classical ensembles for the past 20 years. In 1995, he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in music education from Marywood University and earned a masters degree in classical guitar performance from The Manhattan School of Music in 1998.
He has studied with or performed in master classes with world-renowned classical guitarists David Leisner, David Starobin, Oren Fader, Mark Delpriora, Michael Newman, Laura Altman, Richard Savino, Charles Truitt, The LA Guitar Quartet and others. His jazz background includes study with Rick Stone, Bill Washer, Josh Rubin and Jack Wilkins.
Meszler will be joined by guitarist, Mark Terwilliger, vibraphonist, Norm Sullivan and Jason Smeltzer on the theremin.
In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Presbyterian Chapel at the north end of the park. No admission is charged, but a free-will donation will be collected.
