All things great and small

Photographer Robert Kim recently purchased land in Sullivan County and looked forward to enjoying the local fishing with great anticipation.

He hooked up with river guide Kevin Riley of “Reel’em In” in Glen Spey and went on an Upper Delaware fishing trip.

Here’s what he wrote about his fishing experience:

“I don’t know anyone up there, so I found this guy surfing the net, a local guide on the ‘Big D.’ The weather had been bad all week, and the constant rain made the river high and muddy. We’d only connected with a few big shad in the morning, but when it got real slow, he decided to let us drift through the rapids, for a try at some trout. I tied on a small silver spinner and only seconds into fast water, I cast cross current and a bit upstream, leeting the lure drift down on a taut line, then … whammo! Ten minutes later, he had him in the net, my first Brown trout, on my first Delaware River fishing trip, and on my first cast! Now that’s what I call a Grand Slam.”

Gerry Greck, a resident of Lackawaxen Township, PA, took this picture of baby House Wrens. Here’s what he wrote about his photo entitled “Birds of Summer:”

“These are baby house wrens. The nest is under my side porch. Each year, they build a nest somewhere around my house.”
