Romance novel cover artist comes to Gallery 97

BARRYVILLE, NY — Gallery 97, in cooperation with the Barryville Emporium, will present an exhibit of paintings by Sharon Spiak and an artist’s reception on Saturday, June 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. inside Spruce Home and Gift at the Spring House Commons. The exhibit, “Seduction: Romance Novel Cover Paintings,” will run through July 4.

Spiak began her career as an illustrator in the early 1980s. Her art has been published on the covers of best-selling romance novels by authors Heather Graham, Virginia Henley and Kat Martin. Each work of art in the exhibit represents a complete creative process beginning with a passage from the novel. Spiak first creates costumes, then hires models to be directed in a photo shoot and finally uses the photos to render the story in oil on canvas.
