Groundwater seminar in Damascus
By TOM KANE
DAMASCUS, PA Damascus Township will hold a ground water seminar on Tuesday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the township building on Conklin Hill Road in Damascus.
Kristen Reinertsen, a hydrologist from the Pennsylvania Geologic Survey, will conduct the seminar. Reinerstenis is expected to include test well data that indicate ground water levels over the past 10 years.
Martin Kunstmann of Damascus, who is arranging the seminar, said that residents of Damascus were more interested in the extent of the water supply than with any contamination issues.
We want to know if there will be any problems down the road, Kunstmann said.
The township is totally dependent on ground water and doesnt see any need to plan a water plant for the township, he said.
We want to remain a rural area as much as we can, so ground water is a key issue, Kunstmann said.
The last time the township organized a ground water seminar over a year ago test well data was not available.
Were hoping that Kristin will have some good data, he said.
Attendance is open to all.
