A day of fishing fun

MATAMORAS, PA — Area businesses including The Riverview Inn, Pike County Youth Athletic League (PAYAL) and Wal-mart will sponsor a fun-filled day of fishing for area children ages 18 and younger and their families on Sunday May 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Events include Charlie Shay’s famous barbecue food for sale, assorted contests, prize drawings and gifts for kids. There will be cash prizes awarded for the biggest fish. Proceeds from the day’s events will benefit PAYAL. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

“Spending a day fishing with a child can create memories to last a lifetime” said Judy Shay, Riverview owner. “Besides being a wonderful experience for youngsters, the derbies are an excellent bonding activity for a community,” added Shay.
