Trout Unlimited leads streamside tree planting

HANKINS, NY — The Upper Delaware Chapter of Trout Unlimited will sponsor an outing on Saturday, May 15 that will include a morning session to help plant willows and other streamside trees and shrubs along the banks of a designated upper Delaware tributary stream.

After the chapter serves a streamside lunch, members will lead an afternoon session teaching fly-casting and on-stream fly-fishing techniques to participants. The afternoon session will be conducted on a lightly fished section of the Upper Delaware, so you may actually have a chance to catch fish.

Participants should meet at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot across from the intersection of State Route 97 and County Road 94 in Hankins, NY. Bring waders, hip boots or waterproof boots reaching up to the shin and a small hand trowel or hoe (heart shaped works best). There will be a limited number of fly-fishing outfits available.

Trout Unlimited’s mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. For more information call 570/224-8182 or 224-6172.
