Bethel residents help construct land use plan
BETHEL, NY The Town of Bethel will hold another public meeting and workshop on Saturday, April 24 at 9:00 a.m. at the White Lake Fire Hall to report on progress, share information received from surveys and review some preliminary recommendations as it continues to move ahead with the update of its comprehensive plan now required under New York State law as a foundation for new land use regulations.
Project consultants, Thomas J. Shepstone, AICP of Honesdale, PA and Peter Fairweather, AICP of New Papa, NY will report on the results from a random survey of some 500 Bethel residents and 250 Bethel second home owners who offered their views on a host of subjects, ranging from zoning to boating to community facilities.
A project advisory committee including the Town Councilmen Robert Blais and Vicki Simpson, Planning Board members Herman Bressler and Leon Smith, Zoning Board of Appeals member Elizabeth Moore and Bethel First representative Denise Frangipane is guiding the work. A special website has been established at shepstone.net/Bethel where residents can learn more.
