Poker walk to benefit ALIVE and Safe Passage

LIBERTY, NY — The Village Restaurant, Tavern and Pub Association will sponsor the third annual Liberty Poker Walk on Saturday, May 1. The walk will provide great entertainment, prizes, giveaways and fun for all involved and will benefit Liberty’s 2004 ALIVE Renaissance Project and the Safe Passage Domestic Violence Program of Sullivan County. Participating restaurants and taverns include Cobbler’s, McCabe’s, Northend Bar, The Pub and Seanachie.

Participants may purchase tickets in advance or on May 1 at any of the five participating establishments, from Safe Passage or any ALIVE member for $15 per poker hand. On May 1 each participant will go “pub crawling” and visit each of the sponsoring businesses sometime between the hours of 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. to pick one card from a plain deck of playing cards to establish a five-card poker hand. If the participant is not happy with the hand dealt, a maximum of two more cards can be bought for $2. At the end of the walk whoever has the best hand will win $200.

“Pub crawlers” will then gather at McCabes on South Main Street at 4:00 p.m. for the awards ceremony with cash prizes, music, giveaways, door prizes, 50/50’s and more. Tickets will go on sale on March 1.
