Poker walk to benefit ALIVE and Safe Passage

LIBERTY, NY—The Village Restaurant, Tavern and Pub Association will sponsor the third annual Liberty Poker Walk on Saturday, May 1. The walk will provide great entertainment, prizes, giveaways and fun for all involved and will benefit Liberty’s 2004 ALIVE Renaissance Project and the Safe Passage Domestic Violence Program of Sullivan County. Participating restaurants and taverns include Cobbler’s, McCabe’s, Northend Bar, The Pub and Seanachie.

Writers follow café beat

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY—The Upper Delaware Writers Collective (UDWC) will present two readings in area cafés. The group will perform in Port Jervis on Friday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Café Roxanna, 79 Pike Street, and in Livingston Manor on Friday May 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Peez Leweez coffeehouse. Area writers will be invited to participate in at open-microphone after the formal reading.

Music for string quartet and voice

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY—Chamber Music at St. Andrew’s will present a free concert with the Ecliptica String Quartet on Saturday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 5277 State Route 42.

Performers include mezzo-soprano Laila Maria Salins, violinists Eriko Sato and Sarah Geller, violist Veronica Salas and cellist Lutz Rath.

Program:

Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1767): “Salve Regina” for voice and string quartet.

Victoria Bond (b. 1950): “Molly Manybloom” with Salins and string quartet with text from James Joyce’s “Ulysses.”
