Parade to sing river life praises
CALLICOON, NY What could be more fun than an Upper Delaware parade on Main Street? The Braman Arts Conservatory invites river corridor residents to celebrate the diverse natural world at the Delaware River Life Procession on May 1.
Parade participants can dress up as any animal, plant or amphibian. Bring drums, shakers, bells and whistles to create an ensemble of marching music. The conservatory will offer open-studio work sessions to help create musical instruments and costumes, such as masks, puppets and windsocks. Even simple animal ears and face paint are enough to participate in this fantastic celebration of the area. No written words, political statements or motorized vehicles will be permitted in the parade.
A work session will take place at the conservatory on April 24 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a last organizational meeting on Friday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. Adults and children are encouraged to participate.
Performers will meet behind the conservatory on May 1 at 11:30 a.m. to line up for the event. Braman Arts Conservatory, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to providing quality training in the arts, is located on Lower Main Street in Callicoon.
