The Ice Cometh. Heavy rains during December and early January have kept the Delaware Rivers surface waters at abnormally high temperatures. A gauging station below Callicoon registered 40 degrees at mid-day on January 4.
But by January 8, a blast of Arctic air had chilled the surface to 32 degrees, and has been
clogging the river with slushy ice, which is freezing into huge sheets, especially at the Narrowsburg Eddy.
