Cunningham takes over, Cohen says good-bye

MONTICELLO, NY—The desks were shuffled and the name signs changed Tuesday as a new Democratic Party majority took up the reins of power in the Sullivan County Legislature.

The newly elected panel, with Democratic newcomers Ron Hiatt (D-8), Sam Wohl (D-7) and returning legislator Jonathan Rouis (D-4), moved quickly as expected to name Chris Cunningham (DC-1) to chair the panel.

Former Westchester county attorney and son of the 1969 Woodstock concert host, Sam Yasgur was named to replace eight-year incumbent Ira Cohen as county attorney.

Rouis was named vice-chair and District 2 Legislator Kathy LaBuda was named majority leader.
