ALAN H. CUDNY

HIGHLAND, NY – Alan H. Cudney died on October 20, 2003 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was 70.

The son of the late Harry L. and Catherine Kindberg Cudney, he was born March 27, 1933 in Middletown, NY.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a past member of the Highland Lions Club, secretary/treasurer of the Board of Commissioners of the Highland Hose Company #1, and a member of the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Highland.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Brault Cudney, at home; a daughter Lori of Oneonta, NY; a brother Preston of Westbrookville, NY; and three granddaughters.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Augustine and interment was in the Highland Cemetery.

ELLEN LOUISE GEISER

HORTONVILLE, NY – Ellen Louise Geiser died on October 25, 2003 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 65.

Daughter of the late Christopher and Charlotte Francis Geiser, she was born October 10, 1938 in Liberty, NY.

She was a member of First Grace Lutheran Church of Jeffersonville, NY, The Order of the Eastern Star Revonah Lincoln Chapter #443 in Liberty and the Hortonville HB’s of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Adrian of Liberty.

CARL H. KUNEMAN

WELCOME LAKE, PA — Carl H. Kuneman, a 20-year resident of Welcome Lake, was born November 29, 1917. He lived much of his life in Jersey City, NJ before moving to Glen Ridge, NJ. Carl loved the outdoors and fishing and hunting and was a member of a local rod and gun club. He was an avid card player and belonged to a card group for many years. He dearly loved his family and friend, and his dog Maggie.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gertrude Beach Kuneman, at home; three children, Lynne Richardson and husband Denis of Glen Ridge, NJ; Bob Kuneman and partner Joe Fanning of Glen Ridge, NJ; and Bill Kuneman and wife Suzanne of Roselle Park, NJ; four grandchildren, Pamela Barton, Courtney Higgins, Lisa Kuneman and Bill Kuneman.

A memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on October 28.

RITA MARY BEULAH MCNAMARA

HAWLEY, PA – Rita Mary Beulah Dawson McNamara died on October 21, 2003 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude O’Hara Dawson, she was born in Ontario, Canada.

She was a hairdresser and a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Dewitt, NY.

She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are two daughters, Deanna McNamara of Perkomenville and Patricia Murdock of Chambersburg, MD; two sons, Edward McNamara of Coopersburg and Thomas McNamara of McChord Air Force Base, WA; a sister, Deanna Mantha of Ottawa, Canada; and 10 grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held at Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley and interment was at the church cemetery.

EUGENE J. PAPARELLA

BEACH LAKE, PA – Eugene J. Paparella died on October 24, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 71.

The son of John C. and Lucia Castranova Paparella, he was born on November 22, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY.

In 1957 he took over his father’s Crystal Soda distribution business. He also worked as an excavating contractor and then as a dairy farmer. Most recently, he was the proprietor of Paparella’s Auto Service until he retired in 2002.

He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving from 1951 to 1955. He was also a member of the Tusten Lions Club, Narrowsburg, NY.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, at home, and nine children: Christopher of Rye, NY; Patrick of Fort Pierce, FL; Andrew of Newton, NJ; Richard of Beach Lake; Gregory of Milanville, PA; Jean Marie Giordano of Brooklyn, NY; Terence of Jacksonville, FL; Nora Phillips of Scranton, PA; and Alicia Macro of Syracuse, NY; three brothers, John of Fort Pierce, FL; Vincent of Lumberton, NC; Edward of Milanville,  and seventeen grandchildren.

DENNIS C. QUINN

SHOHOLA, PA – Dennis C. Quinn died on October 25, 2003 at Compassionate Care Hospice, St. Clares Hospital, Dover, NJ. He was 60.

Son of the late Daniel and Mary Ace Quinn, he was born January 30, 1943 in Passaic, NJ.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, in Milford. He was a professional musician and a member of Local 248, American Federation of Musicians.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Quinn of West Milford, NJ; two daughters, Jacquelyn Dickey of Reading, PA and Debra O’Leary of Matamoras, PA; and four grandchildren.

Interment was in The Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Lakes, NJ.

LEO ROGERS

PORT JERVIS, NY – Leo Rogers died on October 20, 2003 at Middletown Park Manor, in Middletown, NY. He was 87.

The son of the late John Rybcinsky and Anna Michaelcuck Rybcinsky, he was born in New York City on August 28, 1916.

He was a retired mechanic for Seletsky Vending Company in South Fallsburg, NY.

Survivors include a son, John L. Rogers of Barryville, NY.

Funeral services and interment took place at the family mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

GENEVIEVE E. WOOD

HIGHLAND FALLS, NY – Genevieve E. Wood, a 66-year area resident, died on October 20, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Henry Fensterer and Margaret Elges Fensterer, she was born December 26, 1916 in Brooklyn.

She was a retired English teacher at James I. O’Neill High School, Highland Falls. She was a member of the Highlanders Senior Citizens, Highland Falls.

Survivors include her son, William Wood of Wallkill; daughters Nancy Fleckinger of Hawley, PA, Jennifer Packard of Highland Falls, and Margaret Goodman of Tega Cay, SC; sisters Margaret Walker of Punta Gorda, FL and Dorothy Shaad of Fort Myers, FL; 13 grand children and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
