Municipal officials to confer at visioning forum
LACKAWAXEN, PA — A special forum for municipal officials of
the Delaware River towns will be held on Wednesday, November 5 from 7:00 to
9:00 p.m. at the Lackawaxen House restaurant.
With facilitation from the Visioning Committee of the Upper
Delaware River Corridor, participants will discuss how municipal governments
can prepare for the growth that is coming
The meeting is co-sponsored by the Wayne County
Commissioners and the Sullivan County Legislature and endorsed by the Pike
County Commissioners.
Officials from Pennsylvania river townships and New York
river towns are invited, including Buckingham, Manchester, Damascus, Berlin,
Lackawaxen, Shohola, Westfall, Matamoras, Milford, Hancock, Fremont, Delaware, Cochecton,
Tusten, Highland, Lumberland, Deerpark and Port Jervis.
Diane Kripas, from the Pennsylvania Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources, will speak about open space programs and
greenways, “Conserving Land through the Development Process”; Ann Hutchinson
from the Natural Lands Trust will present “Growing Greener: Conservation by
Design” and discuss how Monroe County is using open space funds to acquire land
and provide good planning and land use practices; and Christine Laytos will
present “Monroe 2020,” a project of the Monroe Planning Commission.
