Bird conservation lectures
BUSHKILL, PA — The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation
Area and the Friends of the Delaware Water Gap will present the second in a
series of free lectures on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bushkill
visitor center on Route 209.
Rob Blye, coordinator for the Audubon’s Important Bird Areas
(IBA) program, will present a slideshow, “The Important Bird Area Program and
the Conservation of Pennsylvania’s Birdlife.”The lecture will provide an
overview of the state’s contributions to bird populations in the western
hemisphere, discuss trends and summarize the most serious threats facing birds.
Blye will also discuss current activities and future plans for the 79 IBA sites
with an emphasis on southeastern Pennsylvania and opportunities for involvement
in bird conservation.
The Friends of the Delaware Water Gap are dedicated to
supporting historic, scientific, recreational and environmental activities. To

Wildlife rehabilitator to visit Dorflinger
WHITE MILLS, PA — Wildlife rehabilitator KathyDubin,
director of the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Tobyhanna, PA, will
present a free lecture on Pennsylvania wildlife with animals from her
collection on Saturday, October 25 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the
Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary on Long Ridge Road.
