Shohola speed limit 25 m.p.h.

SHOHOLA, PA — The Shohola Township Supervisors
passed a resolution at their October 9 meeting to reduce the speed
limit on township roads to 25 miles per hour (m.p.h.).
This limit does not apply to state roads like Route 434 and
Twin Lakes Road.
State law sets a speed limit of 55 mph on highways and
reduces speed limits to 35 m.p.h. on roads that go through more built-up areas.
“The majority of our roads are winding and half of them are
dirt roads,” said George J. Fluhr, chairman of the township supervisors.
“We intend to enforce this change,” Fluhr said.
Even though the new law goes into effect immediately, the
township will not enforce it until signs are placed on the roads, Fluhr said.
“We have all the signs now and we’re getting the posts this
week,” he said.
When people speed on dirt roads, it damages them, Fluhr
said.
Recently the township spent $100,000 repairing Little Walker
Road, which is a dirt road.
