MONTICELLO, NY — The Monticello Panthers found the Saugerties Sawyers hard to handle. The Sawyers scored early and often as they converted Monticello turnovers and used effective passing to create a flurry of scoring chances on Panthers’ goalie Erica Kalber.

Sophomore Amy Toporowski scored a pair of goals as did junior Kristin Waters. Toporowski’s active play provided a pair of assists, one of which Ilona Szotyori received to score. Toporowski sent the ball in front of the net on a corner kick and Szotyori drilled it home.

Sarah Hildenbrand opened the second half scoring with a goal at 29:11 with a laser shot to the far left corner of the net. Monticello goalie Erica Kalber recorded 16 saves and Brittani Suto of Saugerties stopped eight shots on goal. The Sawyers improved their record to 7-4 (3-3 OCIAA) while Monticello fell to 3-11 (1-5 OCIAA).

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — The Lady Bulldogs had their way with winless Liberty in a Division IV match.

Jessica Lederman’s penalty kick at the 30-minute mark began a first half barrage of four goals. Heather Lander got the first of her three goals on an assist from Rachel Peloquin. The Bulldogs’ next score was also courtesy of Lander, who took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net at 13:00.

The Indians had trouble clearing the ball out of their own end and Mille Rhodes tallied the next Sullivan West score on an assist from Jess Corbett. Rachel Peloquin added a goal on a penalty kick at 25:00 in the second half.

Lander’s third goal came on an assist from senior Vanessa Kline. Sullivan West’s goalkeeper Amanda Patterson had a quiet day as she watched the game, uncalled upon to register any saves. Liberty goalie Jamie Poley had 19 saves as the Bulldogs put an incredible 25 shots on goal during the afternoon. Sullivan West improved its record to 4-9 (2-4 OCIAA) and Liberty fell to 0-11 (0-6 OCIAA).

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Coming in with a 6-1 Division III record, the Goshen Gladiators were bound to be a formidable opponent. Deep and skilled, Goshen showed the ability to mount consistent opportunities, but Sullivan West’s defense was intense and daunting.

Kevin Suchnholz got the first goal for Goshen at 29:19. The teams went back and forth during most of the first half, but after a handball was called within Sullivan West’s 18, Goshen’s Bobby Collett got a chance at a penalty kick, which he drove into the upper right corner of the net with 2:02 left in the first half.

Bulldog Jeremy Morgan had a couple of nice chances, but none converted to goals. Uriah Santiago of Goshen added a goal before the half to make it 3-0. The Bulldogs played terrific defense during the second half and might have gone unblemished, but a second handball in front of the net by Sullivan West gave Gladiator Joe Pereira a successful penalty kick to end the scoring at 4-0.

Goshen goalie Pat Carlucci recorded six saves while Sullivan West’s Joe Layman tallied 11. Goshen improved its record to 7-1 (8-4 1OCIAA) while Sullivan West fell to 3-9 (2-6 OCIAA).
