Sullivan West 35, Ellenville 6
Bulldogs dominate Ellenville in league
win
By RICHARD A. ROSS
JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — On a gorgeous fall afternoon
Sullivan West hosted its homecoming, replete with band, cheerleaders,
kudos for seniors and their parents and a host of Eddie Adams Photojournalism
Workshop photographers. A picture-perfect afternoon was etched into
film history as the Bulldogs played their “A” game against
the Ellenville Blue Devils. It was Sullivan West’s last regular
season home game.
Ellenville won the toss and elected to receive.
What should have been their first offensive series turned into a
Bulldog touchdown within minutes as Orion Darder picked up a fumble
by Ellenville’s Albert May and galloped 46 yards for a touchdown.
Joe Meyer’s point after kick was good and Sullivan West jumped
out to a 7-0 lead.
Ellenville turned the ball over four times in the
first half, including an interception picked off by safety Scott
Peters. Those turnovers quickly turned into Bulldog points as a
relentless running and passing attack kept Ellenville back on their
heels.
Peters’ seven- and 10-yard touchdown runs
and a Scott Forster one-yard plunge gave the Bulldogs a 28-6 halftime
lead. Quarterback Joe Meyer completed five out of six passes, including
a stunning 21-yard heave to tight end Andre Trujillo who returned
after a two-week hiatus from a high ankle sprain.

the Class B, Division II win. Ellenville’s record fell to
