Annual dinner celebrates survival

MATAMORAS, PA — There are some who say that it is the support and community spirit that really assists an individual’s battle with cancer. Marilyn and Raymond Gabay of Liberty joined the staff of the Upper Delaware Valley Cancer Center (UDVCC) and the Sparta Cancer Center at the Seventh Annual Cancer Survivors’ Summer Party on August 24 at the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing.

Attended by over 500 survivors, family and friends from throughout the tri-state area, the celebration conveyed a message of wellness, hope, companionship, support and survival. Participants enjoyed musical entertainment, dancing, great food and good company in a cheerful setting. Also in attendance were community leaders, local concerned businesses and health-related, non-profit organizations.
