UDHA presents Heritage Awards September 28

BEACH LAKE, PA — The Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance (UDHA) will hold its 22nd Annual Heritage Awards Dinner on Sunday, September 28 at Central House Resort. Festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. with a social hour featuring exhibits of the award-winning projects and a cash bar. A full-course buffet dinner will be served at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $23.

The UDHA welcomes all to honor the following 2003 award recipients:

• Preservation Award—The Springhouse, Barryville, NY.

• Tom Hill Award for Excellence in Public Service—Gene Woock, National Park Service retiree.

• Certificates of Recognition: Town of Mamakating D&H Canal Linear Park Commission; Fort Delaware Museum of Colonial History Director Joanna Szakmary; Liberty Museum and Arts Center, Liberty, NY; 1804 Woodland House owned by Ken Knapp, Delhi, NY; historical photographer Donald Kaszner of Equinunk, PA.; Hortonville Presbyterian Church historic registry designations, Hortonville, NY; Town of Highland Sesquicentennial Celebration; and Basha Kill Area Association’s D&H Canal towpath interpretive walks.

• Recognition for Publications —Kurt A. Reed and Water B. Barbe of the Honesdale, PA area for “The Glass Industry in Wayne County, PA, 1807-Present;” Frank T. Dale of Hope, NJ for “Bridges Over the Delaware River: A History of Crossings;” Emily Hallock of Narrowsburg, NY for “Those Who Came Before;” Paul O’Hara of Pleasant Mount, PA for “Pleasant Mount in Vintage Postcards;” Joseph Freda of Kenoza Lake, NY for “The Patience of Rivers,” and Leota Hermann of Callicoon, NY for the Sullivan County Democrat’s “Down the Decades” column.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the UDHA will conduct a brief annual business meeting that will include a report from President Edward Boyer and election of officers.
