BARRYVILLE, NY — A pair of Heather Bellock’s Lakenvelder chickens were among about a dozen non-laying, fancy breed chickens on display at the Spring House in Barryville on Saturday afternoon.

Heather’s dad, Michael, has been raising chickens in Fosterdale for two decades. Her fancy breeds are hobby birds for competition.

Much like dogs and cats “each breed has its own following,” said Paula Barber of Sullivan County 4-H.

The chickens were on hand to help plug the ongoing photo exhibit “The Fairest Fowl” at Gallery 97, which will run through September 27.
