Arnold G. Daniels

BEACH LAKE, PA—A memorial service will be held for Arnold G. Daniels on Sunday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joseph W. Finan

CARBONDALE, PA—Joseph W. Finan died August 23 in VNA Hospice, Marian Community Hospital. He was 82.

He was born in Hawley and was the son of Matthew J. and Mary Jane McHale Finan. He was a graduate of Hawley High School and was director of Manpower Utilization at National Steel, Valparaiso, IN.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Gresham; a sister, Mary Jasne Rusnak of Washington Crossing, PA; and a brother, Paul M. Finan, of Hawley.

ELIZABETH W. KOOISTRA

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—Elizabeth W. Kooistra died August 27 at her home in Jeffersonville. She was 87.

The daughter of Willard and Mabel Christensen Wright, she was born in Homestead, OK.

She is survived by two daughters, Katherine Schaefer of Jeffersonville and Viva Davidson of Quakertown, PA; one son, Joseph Kooistra of Honesdale, PA; two brothers, Wayne Wright of San Jose, CA and Darrell Moody of Gainesville, TX; one stepbrother, Harvey Vann of Denison, TX; and one stepsister, Rosalie Burney of New Orleans, LA.

Burial will be in Jeffersonville Methodist Cemetery.

LILLIAN PHILLIPS

FLORIDA, NY—Lillian Phillips died on August 27 at the home of her son in Florida, NY. She was 87.

The daughter of Charles and Cora Edwards Brucher, she was born in Bethel. She was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star and the White Lake Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Paul, of Florida, NY, and one brother, Elmer “Shorty” Brucher of Bethel.

JOHN W. POWDERLY

PORT JERVIS, NY—John W. “Jack” Powderly of Mohican Lake died on August 22 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 66.

The son of John W. and Sarah Jones Powderly, he was born in Scranton, PA.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Lois J. King Powderly of Mohican Lake; two sons, Michael Powderly of Palm Bay, FL and Scott Decker of Ellenville, NY; and three daughters, Trudy Mueller of Council Bluffs, IO, Rebecca Morris of Hawley, PA and Kathleen Hammer of Manassas, VA.

Interment will be private.

KATHERINE SCHADT

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY—Katherine Schadt died on August 31 at Roscoe Community Nursing Home in Roscoe, NY. She was 88.

She was the daughter of the late Fred W. and Anna Royce Schadt, and was born in Jeffersonville.

She was a member of H. Russell Kenyon Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Callicoon, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to Roscoe Community Nursing Home, Roscoe.

GERALD H. ZIMMERMAN

BEACH LAKE, PA—Gerald H. Zimmerman died on July 30 at his home in Beach Lake.

The son of the late Henry and Martha Roderick Zimmerman, he was born in Allentown, PA. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean war. He owned and operated the Pine Grove Cottages on Beach Lake for nineteen years.

He is survived by his children, Janet Zimmerman of Virginia Beach, Mark and David Zimmerman, and Diane L. Suck all of DE, and a sister, Shirley Risch Oldt of Allentown, PA.
