Yoga by the river with Jane Morris
BARRYVILLE, NY — Jane Morris, originally from Yulan, NY, teaches
a form of Hatha yoga known as Kripalu Yoga. Every Saturday morning from 9:00
to 10:00 a.m., she leads riverside yoga sessions at the Springhouse, just off
Route 97.
Morris has been studying yoga for over 30 years, has certification
in the deeper practices of yoga and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. She
brings to her teaching and practice knowledge of physiology and anatomy, and
through her work in the medical environment, she has gained much experience
and insight for the emotional and physical needs of her students.
A staff yoga therapist with Princeton Medical center, Morris
started and directed the yoga program at the Pennington Athletic Club and is
the founder of Riverlights Yoga Center, dedicated to serving the community and
providing natural healing modalities.
She has studied with Dr. Jeff Migdow at the Kripalu Center
for Yoga and Health, and has taken workshops with Steven Cope, author of “Yoga
and the Quest for the True Self,” and courses with Nivitti Gillett, a psychiatrist
and author of “Overcoming Depression,” “Change Your Mind Change Your World”
and “Intelligent Living; an Inspired Life Against All Odds.”
Other workshop experiences include meditation, pranyana yoga,
teaching yoga to children, yoga for depression, Feldenkris Method and Ayurvedic
medicine.
Her background includes teaching yoga to children, ages two
to five, through an organization known as Homefront, which brings services to
homeless families. She has also taught yoga to disenfranchised youth through
a program known as Life Ties.
