Carlos Carreno joins CRMC
HARRIS, NY — Carlos Carreno, MD, has joined the Women’s
Health Center at Catskill Regional Medical Center (CRMC) as an
obstetrician/gynecologist.
Carreno received his medical degree from Escuela de Medicina
Luis Razetti, Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He
completed his OB/GYN residency at Hutzel Hospital/Wayne State University in
Detroit, MI, and has been a clinical instructor at New York University Medical
School in Manhattan.
“It’s important to build an infrastructure of excellent
healthcare here in Sullivan County, and I hope to assist the CRMC staff in
doing this,” Carreno said. He enjoys marathon running and is now training for
the Chicago Marathon in October.
Joseph Napolitano appointed to laboratory commission
HARRIS, NY — CRMC’s Director of Laboratories, Joseph V.
Napolitano, MD, FCAP, was recently appointed western New York’s division
commissioner for the College of American Pathologists’ (CAP) commission on
laboratory accreditation program.
His role will be to oversee continuing education for
pathologists in their area to ensure quality control, documentation and
administration. The CAP accredits laboratories in more than 83 percent of the
top 100 rated major teaching institutions and large community hospitals, more
than 50 percent of all U.S. hospital laboratories, and all major reference labs
in this country.
The CRMC laboratory department was also named national first
runner-up in the 2003 laboratory of the year award competition sponsored by
Medical Laboratory Observer magazine.
Dr. Napolitano received his medical degree from the
University of Bologna in Bologna, Italy. He earned his undergraduate degree
from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, and is board certified in anatomic and
clinical pathology.
“It’s an honor to serve the College,” says Dr. Napolitano, who resides in Campbell Hall
with his wife.
