ROLAND E. FLORA

NARROWSBURG, NY—Roland E. Flora of Narrowsburg, NY, longtime area resident and owner and operator of Laurel Hill Cabins in Narrowsburg, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Bon Secours Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was 89.

The son of Walter H. and Bessie Sadler Flora, he was born in Norfolk, VA.

He was a charter member and past president of the Tusten Lion’s Club in Narrowburg and a former member of the Sullivan County Sportsman’s Federation, the NYS Conservation Council and the Upper Delaware Council.

He is survived by three children, Marion Tillson of Ilio; NY; Susan Schott of Honesdale, PA; and Patricia Wulforst of West Hempstead, NY, and one sister, Barbara Boyce of Tuttle, OK.

LOIS ARLENE ORR

BEACH LAKE, PA—Lois Arlene Orr, custodian for the Wayne Highlands School District, died Friday, August 15, 2003 at her home. She was 60.

Daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Farr Orr, she was born in Callicoon, NY.

She is survived by eight brothers, Donald of Beach Lake, Vincent of Tennessee, David of Florida, Paul and Byron of Honesdale, and Kenneth of Beach Lake; and two sisters, Beverly Pronko of Olyphant, PA and Gloria Jean Metzger of Florida.

JOAN E. SPICER

LAKE ARIEL, PA—Joan E. Spicer died on August 23, 2003 at Julia Ribaudo Senior Care Center. She was 72.

The daughter of Francis Heintz and Constance Miller Heintz, she was born in Flushing, NY.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda DeGiulio of Campbell Hall, NY and two sons, Russell Spicer of Hawley, PA, and Albert Spicer of Peekskill, NY.

Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA. Memorial contributions will be accepted for the New York School for the Deaf, 555 Knollwood Rd., White Plains, NY 10603.

MILTON “BUD” O. STRANAHAN

HONESDALE, PA — Milton “Bud” O. Stranahan of Narrowsburg, NY, retired owner and operator of Stranahan’s Store in Narrowsburg and lifetime area resident, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 82.

The son of Augustus J. and Alice M. Igler Stranahan, he was born in Narrowsburg.

He was treasurer of the Tusten Historical Society, member of the Tusten Lions Club, the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce, the Narrowsburg Fire Department, and the American Legion Post in Eldred, NY. Before retiring, he served 30 years as Town Clerk of the Town of Tusten.

He is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Janowski of Narrowsburg, NY and Wanda Bidwell of Hartselle, AL.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Narrowsburg, NY at a date and time to be announced. Cremation will take place at Twin Tiers Crematory, Endicott, NY and burial of the cremated remains will be in Glen Cove Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.

BUDDY JOHN TRIPLETT

TOPSAIL ISLAND, NC—Buddy John Triplett, resident of Warwick, NY, died August 19, 2003 at Topsail Island, NC. He was 63.

The son of Buddy John and Katherine Gilmartin Triplett, he was born in Teaneck, NJ.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Bold Triplett and his four sons, John of Pine Island, Richard and Anthony, both of Shohola, PA, and William of Dingman’s Ferry, PA.

HELEN MARIE TUSSEL

HAWLEY, PA—Helen Marie Tussel died on August 24,2003 at home. She was 92.

The daughter of Ethel Stefko, she was born in Marion, PA.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald and Richard of Hawley, PA, and her sister Margaret Schmaler of Tinton Falls, NJ.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
