Regional planning for history
LACKAWAXEN, PA — Members of the D&H Heritage Transportation
Council are pictured with National Park Service (NPS) staff on July 23, as
they visited the Roebling Aqueduct Bridge.
The council, made up of museums and historical societies associated
with the former Delaware and Hudson Canal, held their quarterly meeting in
Lackawaxen last week. Formed in 1995 with the assistance of the NPS on the
Upper Delaware, the council has since become a forum and information exchange
for groups in five counties and two states. They also publish a popular map
and guide, which for the first time outlined all of the available D&H
sites and programs between Carbondale and Kingston, NY.
The brochure is available through tourism offices in Orange,
Sullivan and Ulster counties and through the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau.
