Hunting licenses available Saturday
DALLAS, PA — The Pennsylvania Game Commission Northeast Regional
office will be open on Saturday, August 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to
sell hunting licenses.
“We are opening our doors to accommodate those hunters who
have not had the opportunity to purchase their 2003 hunting licenses,” Regional
Director Barry L. Warner said.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Harrisburg Headquarters
will begin accepting antlerless deer license applications by mail from Pennsylvania
residents on Monday, August 4. Non-residents may apply through the mail starting
Monday, August 18. The Northeast Regional office is located at the intersection
of Routes 118 and 415, approximately five miles south of Harvey’s Lake. Normal
business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

GreenWorks video screened in century-old barn
LAKE WALLENPAUPACK, PA — According to the Lacawac Sanctuary,
one acre of American rural land is developed every 15 seconds. The sanctuary
will host a free video presentation, “Shaping Our Communities: Stories about
People and our Environment,” on Wednesday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Presented in the 100-year-old Carriage Barn on the 500-acre
sanctuary, this award winning video by GreenWorks takes viewers on a visual
journey to meet people who do great things to preserve and protect the environment,
health and quality of life.
Ellen M. Feretti, director of the northeastern Pennsylvania
office of PA Environmental Council will be on hand to discuss local initiatives
and opportunities for community involvement.

BLOOMING GROVE, PA — On August 8, 9 and 10, Northeast PA Audubon
will hold the second annual family campout at Promised Land State Park. There
will be canoeing, hiking, birding by canoe (with nesting bald eagles), a
potluck supper at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and park nature programs. There are
also plans to make smores over the campfire Saturday night.
