PA man injured in Highland one-car traffic accident
BARRYVILLE, NY — Yulan firefighters and ambulance personnel are pictured July
25 as they worked to extricate a 26-year-old Greeley man from his car
following a late-night, one-car accident on County Road 21.
Highland Constable Marc Anthony said Charles Jensen was
apparently traveling at a high rate of speed at about 11:40 p.m., when
he lost control of his westbound, 2000 Ford near the intersection of
CR 21 and State Route 97. Jensen’s car wandered onto the shoulder for
several hundred feet before striking the headwall of a culvert, which
sent it spinning airborne, end-over-end. The car landed back on the highway.
Yulan firefighters removed the
roof of the vehicle to extricate Jensen, who suffered neck and arm injuries. MobileMedic and Eldred American Legion Ambulance rescue personnel
transported Jensen to Mongaup, where Lumberland firefighters prepared a landing site for a medivac helicopter from the Westchester Medical Center.
Jensen, who had been wearing a seatbelt, was reported
to be recovering and in stable condition on Monday.
Anthony said vehicle and traffic tickets are pending.
