Visioning committee to meet in Equinunk
By TOM KANE
EQUINUNK, PA — Continuing the string of meetings it has sponsored
in municipalities on both sides of the Upper Delaware River in the last few
months, the Visioning Committee of the Upper Delaware River Corridor will
hold its July meeting in Manchester at Equinunk, PA on Friday, July 11 at
8:30 a.m.
The township hall is on Rte 191, just south of Equinunk.
The session is designed facilitate a conversation between
residents from Manchester and Buckingham Township in Pennsylvania and the
New York towns of Fremont and Delaware.
The role of the committee, which has already held two forums
on preparing for the growth that is coming, has been to facilitate communication
among local public and private organizations in order to conserve and enhance
the quality of life among the towns and townships along the river valley.
The purpose of this meeting is to get the opinions of the
“people in the trenches” about what needs to be done in our towns to prepare
for anticipated growth.
The committee is planning an intensive workshop in September
for municipal officials that will get down to the specifics of comprehensive
planning, preservation of open spaces and the specific actions a community
should take to preserve its quality of life.
