MARGARET B. BRAUSER

BEACH LAKE, PA — Margaret B. Brauser, a housewife and resident of the area for 50 years, died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Wolfe Family Home in Narrowsburg, NY. She was 93.

The daughter of Anthony and Marie Disnowski Kmieczak, she was born on September 27, 1909 in Germany. She was married to the late Herman Brauser, who passed away in 1996.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Tusten Senior Citizens, both of Narrowsburg, NY, as well as the Welcome Lake Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include four nephews, Barry Kmieczak of Beach Lake, PA, Wayne Kmieczak of Bangor, PA, Donald Kmieczak of Coopersburg, PA and Kenneth Kmieczak of Lancaster, PA as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Herbert, Raymond and Alfred.

A memorial service will held at a date and time to be announced.

ENRIQUE “HENRY” FONALLEDAS

HAWLEY, PA — Enrique ‘Henry” Fonalledas, former resident of Islip, NY, died unexpectedly on June 25, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He was 73.

The son of the late Felix and Francesca Munoz Fonalledas, he was born in Dorado, Puerto Rico.

He was employed as a truck driver for Saxon Paper, Long Island City, NY. He was religiously affiliated with the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley. He is an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Anne M. Fonalledas; a son, Robert Henry Fonalledas of Hawley; three daughters, Theresa Lopez and Linda Vega, both of Hawley, and Marianne Fonalledas of Northhampton, PA; a brother, Felix Fonalledas of Puerto Rico; five sisters, Carmen Melecio of Florida, Alicia Guzman, Mercedes Nieves, Esther Ledesma, Elsa Rivera all of Puerto Rico; and seven grandchildren.

Interment will take place at Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, PA.

EILEEN J. HALLOCK

FLORENCE, MT — Eileen J. Hallock, a former Callicoon resident, died Tuesday, June 24 in Hamilton, MT at the MDM-Hospice Center. She was 68.

The daughter of Norman and Dorothy Myers Wolff, she was born on May 12, 1935 in Callicoon.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, at home; two daughters, Darlene and JoAnn Timmerhoff; and one son, Brian Hallock, all of Missoula; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

WINIFRED HESSINGER

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, NY — Winifred O. “Winnie” Hessinger, a lifelong area resident and a retired receptionist for Dr. John R. Muccia of Liberty, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 74.

The daughter of the late Ora and Pearl Wilber Parks, she was born October 27, 1928, in New Jersey.

An active community member, she was a member of the White Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church and a charter member and past president of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxuiliary. She was also a member and past president of the White Sulphur Springs Nightlighters, a member of the Sullivan County Cooperative Extension, a member of the White Sulphur Springs PTA, the White Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens and the White Sulphur Springs Cemetery Association.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Hessinger, at home; a son, Robert Hessinger of Youngsville, NY; two daughters and sons-in-law, April and Joseph Kissel of White Sulphur Springs, and Janet and Keith Fritzinger of Poughkeepsie, NY; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Leslie and Elsie Parks of Youngsville, Dale and Rosa Parks of Syracuse and Robert and Marilyn Parks of White Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

CATHERINE ELIZABETH JACKSON

LAKE ARIEL, PA — Catherine Elizabeth Jackson died unexpectedly on June 22, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 64.

The daughter of the late Edward Heaney and the late Catherine Tuska Heaney, she was an operator for the Wayne County Family Center.

Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Jackson; two sons, Edward Jackson of Ann Arbor, MI and David Jackson at home; one daughter, Kit Jackson at home; one step-daughter, Karen Beard of Twinning, MI; and three grandchildren.

MARY M. KILGALLEN

WAYMART, PA — Mary M. Kilgallen died Thursday, June 26, 2003. She was 84.

The daughter of the late Edward J. and Margaret Gilligan Ryan, she was employed as a medical assistant prior to retirement. She was a member of The Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley, and a former member of its Altar Society. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hawley American Legion and the Pike County Historical Society. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen A. Kilgallen and Mary Jane Graf and her husband Ralph, all of Hawley, PA; a sister, Patricia McElhinney of Brooklyn, NY; four grandchildren and a soon-to-be-born great-grandchild.

DAVID M. KIVLER

NARROWSBURG, NY — David M. Kivler, a longtime resident of Narrowsburg and a building superintendent in New Paltz, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the Taylor Care Center at Westchester. He was 49.

The son of the late John and Lillian Perry Kivler, he was born on February 18, 1954 in Suffern.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Debra Miller Kivler, at home; two sons, Joshua Dubois and Jeramie Kivler, both of Narrowsburg; three brothers, John Kivler of Florida, Russell Kivler of New Jersey, and Richard Kivler of Westbrookville; three sisters, Elaine Niles, Christine Lasik, and Celeste Kivler, all of California; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Paul Kivler.

A memorial service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at Ramsay’s Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, with Rev. Ivan Csete officiating.

PAULINE MCALLISTER

CALLICOON, NY — Pauline B. McAllister, a retired bookkeeper, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Grover Hermann Division of the Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Frank and Pala Bezerics, she was born October 16, 1916, in Elizabeth, NJ.

She was a member of the Basha Kill Area Association Inc. in Wurtsboro, NY, the Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild of White Mills, PA, and the Embroiderer’s Guild of America in Louisville, KY.

Survivors include her son, Michael K. McAllister of Avon, NC; a daughter, Elizabeth McAllister of Youngsville, NY; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Greenhill Cemetery in Wilmington, DE. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P.O. Box 7E, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

MARION H. MCKEAN

SHOHOLA, PA — Marion H. McKean died Thursday, June 25, 2003 at CMC Hospital, Scranton. She was 72.

The daughter of John and Louise Yerich, she was born on December 15, 1930 in Browndale, PA.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse R. McKean; two sons, Ursich of Croydon, PA and Robert Ursich of West Palm Beach, FL; one daughter, Marianne Kapmeyer of Scranton; one sister, Josie Salak of Waymart; and two grandsons. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lewis Ursich, in 1963, a brother John Yerich in 1964 and a sister Louise Scheroda in 1985.

FLOYD T. OLVER

BEACH LAKE, PA — Floyd T. Olver, a retired partner in W.J. Reining and Son and a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 28. He was 77.

The son of the late Gilbert and Mabel Olver, he was born in Beach Lake. A graduate of Honesdale High School, Class of 1943, he was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran and graduated from the Roosevelt Field Aviation School in Mineola, Long Island. A 65-year member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church, he served on numerous committees and was secretary of the Beach Lake Cemetery Association for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and outstanding hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Marie M. Reining, at home; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jeffrey and Patricia Olver of Honesdale, and James and Donna Olver, of Beach Lake; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Daryl Buckingham of Honesdale; a brother, Clyde Olver of West Chester, PA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Ted Olver, in 1971 and by two sisters, Grace Tuttle and Vera Bayly.

Burial was in the Beach Lake Cemetery.

ELIZABETH J. PETERS

PORT JERVIS, NY — Elizabeth J. Peters, a retired bookkeeper for Gristede Bros. in New York City and a longtime area resident, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Campbell Hall Nursing Home. She was 80.

The daughter of the late William J. and Loretta Cooroy Anderson, she was born June 17, 1923, in New York City. She was the widow of Eugene J. Peters.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Thomas Card of Port Jervis and Christine and Bumpy Westfall of Glen Spey, NY; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Eugenie Peters.

ROBERT LOUIS RANKIN

HAWLEY, PA — Robert Louis Rankin, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at home. He was 71.

The son of the late Estelle Smith and the late George Rankin, he was born in Perryville, MO. He was married to Barbara Jezercak for 22 years and was predeceased by a son, Guy Wayne Rankin.

He was an Army career staff sergeant and was of the Roman Catholic faith. He was also a member of the American Legion in Virginia.

Surivors include his wife, Barbara, at home; four sons, Robert Rankin of St. Louis, MO, Michael and Greg Rankin, both of Hampton, VA and George Lysons of Trout Creek, MT; three daughters, Patricia Robinson of Hampton, VA, Tina Rankin of Sparta, IL and Lorie Ann Lyons of Virginia Beach, VA; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

EMILY B. RASER

MILFORD, PA — Emily B. Raser died Thursday, June 12 at home. She was 76.

The daughter of the late Herbert E. and Mary Ann Tampier Travis, she was born on December 4, 1926 in Milford. She was married to Walter Raser.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jervis.

Survivors include her husband; her son Keith W. Raser of Shohola, PA; and two grandsons.

GEORGE LUIS VELEZ

BARRYVILLE, NY — George Luis Velez, a cook at Best Western and the Eldred Preserve, died Thursday, June 26, 2003 at home. He was 47.

The son of the late George Velez and Baldramina Garcia, who survives, he was born February 7, 1956 in New York City.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Dyson-Velez, at home; two daughters, Tatiana Dyson-Velez and her husband Joseph of Middletown, NY, Marlo Schorling and her husband, Kevin Schorling; one sister, Grace Hernandez and her husband, Daniel of West Babylon, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
