Honesdale launches website party
By DONNA LUKIW
HONESDALE, PA — The Himalayan Institute on Main Street celebrated
the creation of Honesdale’s website by throwing a party with balloons, free
cookies, chai and a brief presentation by Brian Fulp, director of the website,
explaining the process and progress of Honesdaleonline.com.
What began as a website for the Himalayan Institute quickly
grew into the town’s website, offering Honesdale’s many activities for the
local people and tourists.
The calendar of events allows the users to search by either
day, week or month for events in the area. There is also a business directory
that lets the users find a business by typing in a keyword. The major feature
of the website, “Merchants on Main Street,” allows online shopping, permitting
the shopper to get their products delivered to their homes.
Some other features include a church directory, health section
and movie listings. As a user subscribes, they are automatically entered
into a drawing to win a free pizza. In the near future, a walking tour of
Honesdale will be available online.
“Everything was made possible through volunteers and donations,”
Fulp said.
Anyone can subscribe to the website by going to Honesdaleonline.com.
