Hiatt seeks district 8 county seat

MONTICELLO, NY —Attorney Ron Hiatt has announced his candidacy for the Sullivan County Legislative District 8 seat.

In a statement, Hiatt said, “Of significance, too much is occurring behind closed doors at the county level. This is wrong. There ought to be open and public discussion of issues, ideas and opinions. As a matter of right, voters ought to have advance notice of issues and an opportunity to be heard. As your legislator, I will press hard for an open government for the people of Sullivan County.”

Hiatt lives in Kiamesha Lake and has two teenage daughters. He is a veteran, a member of the New York and Sullivan County Bar Associations and is active in many Sullivan County community organizations. Hiatt is Vice-President of Sullivan County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates program, founder and advisor to the Sullivan County Alternatives to Incarceration Board and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors at the Recovery Center.
