Knights honor emergency service members

By DAVID HULSE

YULAN, NY — Scores of local firefighters, EMS volunteers, state, county and local police officers turned out on June 8 for the second annual Blue Mass at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church.

The mass, which is sponsored by the John Cardinal O’Connor Council of the Knights of Columbus, is an annual tribute to officers and volunteers who risk their lives in public service daily, said Grand Knight Tony LaRuffa.

This year’s mass also marked the dedication of plaque, which will hang in the church, honoring emergency services personnel and those who died in the September 11, 2001 attack in New York City. Copies of the plaque inscription were provided for all the attending departments.
