Callicoon Creek Park
in lights
By TOM KANE
CALLICOON, NY — The Callicoon Creek Park is getting electricity
and lights.
The electrifying event may happen by the end of the summer,
Michael Chojnicki told members of the Town of Delaware Board at their meeting
on Wednesday, May 21. The electricity will be used for a sound system, stage
lights and decorative lighting throughout the park.
“None of the lights will be glaring,” he said.
Chojnicki is a member of the Callicoon Creek Park Commission,
which is improving the park as part of its 2003 Sullivan Renaissance beautification
project.
“We’re going to get an easement through the property of Lander’s
River Mart on A. Dorrer Road,” Chojnicki said.
The town highway department will assist in digging a trench
to bury the line and tap into the electricity on Bridge Street, at the beginning
of the interstate bridge, he reported.
In other board matters, Town Clerk Tess McBeath, who is also
on the board of the Youth Center, reported that a section of what is now
the basketball court will be given over to skateboarding.
