SYLVIA ANN BOGNER

MONTICELLO, NY—Sylvia Ann Bogner, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, died on Friday May 2, 2003 at her seasonal residence in Glenwood Springs, CO.  She was 63.

The daughter of Esther and Max Seitel of Roscoe, Sylvia was born on November 13, 1919. She was a lover of the outdoors, an athlete and, after her husband’s death in March 1990, she assumed ownership and leadership of Bogner-Seitel Lumber Company.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Wendy Bogner of Colorado, and James and Lisa Bogner of Woodstock, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Tish and Dean Fiuliss of Colorado; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Gloria Seitel of Washington and Abraham and Susan Seitel of Minnesota; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Landfield Ave Synagogue, Monticello. Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiated.

Burial was made in the Landfield Ave Synagogue Cemetery in Monticello.

CLIFFORD JOSEPH BROWN

LIVINGSTON, NJ—Clifford Joseph Brown died on March 29, 2003. He was a custodian for the Livingston Board of Education, Livingston, NJ. He was 42.

Survivors include his parents, Edward and Mary Brown of Pennsylvania, formerly of Livingston, NJ; his brother Edward Brown, Jr.; and two sisters, Linda Hughes and Sherri Celetano.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at Saint Ann’s R.C. Church, Shohola, PA by Rev. David Kramer.

ERWIN W. HALLOCK

SWEETWATER, TN—Erwin W. Hallock died unexpectedly Thursday April 3, 2003 at Cleveland Community Hospital in Cleveland, TN. He was 77.

The son of the late Wilber J. and the late Margaret E. Weber Hallock, he was born July 10, 1925 in Yulan, NY.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Bodensieck Hallock, at home; three sons, Frederick of Walkill, NY, James of Pennsylvania and Walter of Jeffersonville, NY; two brothers, Charles of Highland Lake, NY and Lawrence of California; his sister, Roberta Jessep of Barryville, NY; five grandchildren, two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Gray Parker Funeral Home. Burial was at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.

RONALD HOTALEN

GLEN SPEY, NY—Ronald Hotalen, a lifelong resident, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. He was 61.

The son of the late Blace and Pearl Raser Hotalen, he was born August 19, 1941 in Newton NJ. Ronald was the owner/operator of R & J Tree Service in Glen Spey, NY.

Survivors include his wife, Janette House Hotalen; daughters Sandra Zinner of Pennsylvania and Donna & Deborah Hotelern, both of New Jersey; his son Stephen Degerdon; brothers Russell and Raymond Hotalen, both of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home in Port Jervis, NY. The Rev. Thomas Johnson officiated. Burial was at Layton Cemetery, Layton, NJ.

GUNTHER F. JENSEN

BEACH LAKE, PA—Gunther F. Jensen died on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 unexpectedly at home. He was 69. He was a retired fuel truck driver for PA Department of Transportation.

He was the son of the late Herman F. and Anneliesse Kuhne Jensen. Survivors include his wife, the former Ada D. Lyons; his son, Gunther Jensen; two daughters, Jewel Jensen-Pettit of Honesdale, PA and Crystal Spuhler of Beach Lake; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Hawley, PA. The Rev. Robert Nurnberger and Rev. Jackie Mohrmann officiated.

Burial was made at the Indian Orchard Cemetery, Indian Orchard, PA.

MARY (MICHITSCH) KIRSCH

HAWLEY, PA—Mary (Michitsch) Kirsch died May 1, 2003 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 90.

The daughter of the late Frank Michitsch, she was born Gotschee, Austria.

Survivors include her daughter Brenda Baumeister of Pennsylvania; two sons, John Krisch of California and Robert Krisch of New Hampshire; her sister, Michelle Kresse of Canada; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 505 Church St, Hawley ,PA. The Rev. William B. Healey officiated.

Burial was at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley, PA

PATRICIA ELAINE LYONS

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY — Patricia Elaine Lyons passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2003 at St Vincent’s Hospital, NYC.  She was 59.

Pat was the daughter of the late Marie and Rocco Passerella and was born in Long Island City where she was living at the time of her death.

Pat is survived by her husband, Richard Lyons and four children, Laura Yacino of Narrowsburg, Anthony and Richard Jr. (Snoopy) of Florida, and Scott of Long Island; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Eileen DeSimone and a nephew, Ricky.  She is predeceased by her sister Judy and two nieces.

She was a former president of the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce, an officer of the PTA and co-author of a number of PTA plays. She, with her husband, Rich, was owner of the C and C Pizza Parlor, located on the spot which is now Dave’s Big Eddy Cafe. It was the central spot in town for a number of years.

A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church and burial was at Calvery Cemetery in Queens.

RICHARD MANZI

SMALLWOOD,NY—Richard Manzi, a lifelong resident, died at the Roscoe Community Nursing Home on Saturday May 3, 2003. He was 76.

The son of Catello and Rose Troiano Manzi, he was born on September 27, 1926 in Mongaup Valley, NY. He was a horse trainer and the owner of Dick Manzi Stables in Smallwood.

Survivors include his wife Irma “Lee” Manzi at home; three sons, Richard C. Manzi of Liberty, NY, James Manzi of California and George Manzi of Parksville, NY; two daughters, Kathleen Sturm of Jeffersonville and Terri Colaianni of Mongaup Valley, NY; his sister, Caroline Lohmeyer of Florida; 10 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s Church in Mongaup Valley.  The Rev. Tim Wiggins officiated. Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery, Bethel, NY.

STANLEY J. NAURNOVITZ

Stanley J. Naurnovitz of Barryville, NY, an elementary school teacher for the Eldred Central School District and a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at home. He was 56.

The son of Dorothy M. Herold Naumovitz and the late Joseph P. Naumovitz, he was born September 27, 1946 in Liberty, NY.

Stanley had taught in the Eldred school district for thirty-four years, retiring in July 2002. He was a member and treasurer of the Eldred Central School Facility Association and the Sullivan County Teachers Association, as well as a member of the New York State Teacher Association and a Communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Shohola, PA.

Stanley enjoyed time with his family, giving special attention to his grandson, working outdoors, and working with his friends, colleagues, and students.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Muthig Naumovitz at home; his mother, Dorothy J. Naumovitz of Liberty, NY; two daughters, Jill B. Naumovitz of Fairbanks, Alaska and Beth Naumovitz of Liberty, NY; one son, Adam Naumovitz and his wife Laura, and their son, Grant Naumovitz of Albany, NY; and one brother-in-law, Alan Muthig of Barryville, NY.
