Sheriff’s sub-station opens in Highland

By DAVID HULSE

ELDRED, NY — Town of Highland supervisor Allan Schadt cut the ribbon on April 8 that marked the opening of a new Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department sub-station in the Robin Daniels Emergency Building adjoining the town hall.

The station space, which formerly housed the American Legion Ambulance Service, had been reshaped into an office over the prior month through the efforts of Councilman Joe McDonald and other town officials.

Sheriff Dan Hogue said the office would provide a workspace for patrol deputies in the area, but that deputies would not be assigned to the office. Hogue said his deputies would continue to work with Highland constables, whom he praised.

The sub-station is the fifth, including those in Bloomingburg, Hortonville, Livingston Manor and Neversink.
