LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY – Sullivan County Community College continues
the monthly workshops in its Sullivan County Direct Support Professionals
Speakers Series on April 30 with the workshop, “A Fun Look at Health and
Humor: The Mind-Body Relationship.” Michael Gaeta, Ed.D., the vice president
of adult services at The Center for Discovery in Harris, NY, is the guest
lecturer. The workshop will be held from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the College’s
Seelig Theatre. It will be repeated from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Admission is
$30. Seating is limited and early registration is suggested.

Lumberland pianists win
GLEN SPEY, NY — Twelve local piano students of Lumberland
teacher Frank Schwarz performed in the national piano playing auditions at
the Lumberland Town Hall earlier this month.
Winners in 2003 auditions and members of the National Fraternity
of Student Musicians for one year include Russell Amore, Kathleen O’Rourke
and Clarissa Pflanz.
District winners include Alli Amore, Keegan Frey and Torin
Frey.
Local winners were Michelle Krasinski, James Romaglio, Mary
Setten, Dominique Grandfort, Dennis McCullough and Mariellen McCullough.
BOCES LPN students graduate
LIBERTY, NY — The 2003 LPN Class at Sullivan County BOCES
was recognized at a Pinning Ceremony held at the Granite Associates Auditorium,
Ferndale. Eight LPN students were presented with their pins and praised for
their hard work and dedication. The LPN class of 2003 includes Diane Augustine,
Margaret Cleary, Rachel Call, Edmundo Figueroa, Carmelita Figueroa, Dianne
Murran, Ashlee Porter and Pamela Williams. A reception was held for family
and friends following the ceremony.

Kids care to understand the police
MONTICELLO, NY — Students involved in the Monticello Kids
Care Program recently took an educational trip to the Monticello Police Department.
Officer Corley, who introduced students to the policy and procedures of the
Police Department, conducted the tour. The students gained a better understanding
of the role police officers play in their school and community.
