Pike maps go online

MILFORD, PA — Pike County was this week scheduled to take its geographic information system (GIS) mapping global via the Internet, Community Planning Director Michael Mronzinski said.

The kickoff was scheduled for a noon February 26 meeting of the Pike County Planning Commission.

The web access, which will eventually make portions of the multi-layered mapping system available to the public on a no-charge basis, will also retain certain portions for fee-based usage.

Passwords or some sort of filtering device would allow municipalities full access to the system.

“We’re hoping that the township planners make good use of it,” Mrozinski said.

No web address for the project is yet available.
