THOMAS M. CLARK, SR.

LACKAWAXEN, PA — Thomas M. Clark, Sr., a retired carpenter and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA. He was 89.

The son of the late William and Mary Kestler Clark, he was born in Tusten.

Survivors include his wife, Edna at home; three sons, Thomas M. Clark, Jr. and Robert W. Clark, both of Lackawaxen, PA, and John R. Clark of Hawley, PA; one sister, Patricia McKean of Virginia; one brother, Joseph Clark of Lackwaxen, PA; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret McKean; a grandson; a great-grandson; three brothers, William, Bernard and Raymond; and two sisters, Gertrude and Bertha.

Funeral services were held at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Barryville. The Rev. David Cramer officiated. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Shohola, PA.

HERBERT WILLIAM FRITZ

HAWLEY, PA — Herbert William Fritz, an 18-year area resident, died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at home. He was 63.

The son of the late Joseph and Anna Kohl Fritz, he was born in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Fritz was employed as a financial planner for Rodgers-Olver-Polley Inc., Honesdale, PA. He was a member of Queen of Peace Church, Hawley, PA, the Cricket Hill Gold Club, the YMCA of Honesdale, PA, and the Air National Guard.

Survivors include his companion, Marie Flannelly of Moosic; two daughters, Cheryl Fritz of Wayne and Susanne Landman of Levittown; three brothers, Henry and Charles, both of Plymouth Meeting, and Joseph of Norristown; a granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was at St. Paul’s Church, East Norriton. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken. A prayer service was conducted by the Rev. William B. Healey, pastor, Queen of Peace Church in Teeters’ East Chapel, Halwey, PA.

OSMER F. GEIB

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Osmer F. Geib, a retired poultry farmer and lifetime area resident, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Roscoe Community Nursing Home, Roscoe. He was 92.

The son of Charles and Freda Schaefer Geib, he was born in Beachwoods, NY. He was the widower of Mildred Miller Geib, his wife of 62 years, who passed away in 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Brown of Monroe; son-in-law, Eugene Doetsch of Jeffersonville; five grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Geib of Newport; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Doetsch and a granddaughter. There were no calling hours.

Services were held at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. Pastor Robert McLeod officiated. Burial will be in Jeffersonville Presbyterian Cemetery, Jeffersonville.

ANNA JUST

COCHECTON, NY — Anna Just, a lifelong area resident and homemaker, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, at the Seelig Division of Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 88.

The daughter of the late Hubert Sr. and Iva Geer Volmers, she was born in Brooklyn. She was the widow of Kenneth Just, Sr. She was a member of the Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid Society.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Just of Whitefield, NH, and Kenneth Just, Jr., of Cochecton; two daughters, Edith Suydam of Clarks Summit, PA, and Betty Mather of Rensselaer; a brother, Hubert Volmers of Somerville, NJ; 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Emil Volmers.

Services were held at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville. The Rev. Jacob Wielhouwer officiated. Burial will be in the East Cochecton Cemetery, Cochecton.

ELEANOR LAIZURE

SHOHOLA, PA — Eleanor Laizure, a lab technician and 20-year area resident, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis. She was 62.

The daughter of Earle and Helen “Betty” Elizabeth Turfler Predmore, she was born in Goshen. Eleanor worked as a lab technician for Scientific Services S/D Inc., Sparrowbush.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Laizure at home; her father and mother of Milford, PA; a daughter, Beverly Fuhremeister of Barre, VT; a son, Steven Worobok of Montague, NJ; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Baxter.

There was no visitation. Funeral services were private.

K. JEAN MCCOACH

COCHECTON, NY — K. Jean McCoach, a former supervisor for the Town of Cochecton, died on Friday, January 31, 2003, at East Pasco Medical Center in Orlando, Fl. She was 78.

The daughter of Walter and Amanda Baurenfeind Stewart, she was born on November 17, 1924 in Johnson City, NY.

Serving as a Sunday School superintendent, teacher, caregiver, beautician and mother, she was also an active member of the Fosterdale United Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas McCoach; he brother, Howard Stewart and sister-in-law Harriett; and by her sister, Lucille Engert and brother-in-law Henry.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Fuller and son-in-law, Alfred, of Syracuse; two sons, Timothy McCoatch and his wife Joy of Orlando, FL, and David McCoach and his wife Diane, of Lagrangeville; two sisters, Maw Poley and husband Earle and Wilda Priebe and husband Al, of North Branch; four grandsons, Scott and Josh Fuller and Clint and Cody McCoach; great-granddaughter Alexis Fuller as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 6 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 7 at the Fosterdale United Methodist Church. Cremation will be at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott, NY.

BARBRA DEE SIMS

SWAN LAKE, NY — Barbra Simms, a seventh grade math teacher at the Liberty Middle School and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, January 25, 2003, at Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, New York City, following a long illness. She was 38.

The daughter of Leota Deighton Hermann and the late Paul W. Hermann, she was born in Callicoon. Mrs. Simms was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the H. Russell Kenyon Post No. 5808, Callicoon, and past president of the Sullivan County Council VFW Auxiliary. She was active with Boy Scout Troop 95, Liberty, and a former Sunday School teacher at the Liberty Unity Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 18½ years, Bryan J. Sims; two sons, Paul Edward and Phillip Eric, all at home; her mother of Callicoon; three sisters, Sandra Flynn of Callicoon, Major Rhonda Sullivan of Westlake, LA, and Debora of Gainesville, GA; seven nieces and nephews; five grandnieces; an uncle and aunt, Fred and Eileen Herman of Callicoon; several grand aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; and extended family including a mother-in-law, brother in-law, sisters-in-law and their families.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church, Liberty. The Rev. Francis Waite officiated. Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
