The great backyard bird count
REGION — The Northeast Pennsylvania Audubon Society asks you
to take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count run by the Audubon Society
and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology on February 14 to 17. You will be asked
to count birds on those days and submit your counts.
Scientists and bird enthusiasts can learn a lot by knowing
where birds are. Now that winter has gripped much of the continent, what
are our birds doing? Bird populations are dynamic. They are constantly in
flux. The data that you collect will be combined with the Christmas bird
count and Project FeederWatch data to give a detailed picture of our winter
birds. Every year the data collected gives an important and meaningful picture
of bird population.
If you would like to take part, log on to www.birdsource.org or if you have any questions call Bob at 570/676-9969.
