Locals and Olympians take to the ice

LIVINGSTON MANOR — Despite frigid weather,
the 44th Annual Livingston Manor Rotary Ice Carnival was unquestionably
a success.
“It was really great,” said Rotary member and
event chair Gary Siegel. “I’ll never complain that it’s too cold
for an ice carnival.”
While the weather was considerably colder than
last year’s just barely 32-degree day, the stands around
the ice rink at Rotary Park were full of spectators. Those spectators
had a chance to see first hand the skill of U.S. Olympic ice
dancers Charles and Beata Sinek, and a plethora of potential
Olympians. In all, there were eighteen ice-dancing performances
before the races began.
Rounding out the day was the ongoing display of
the snow sculptures created by classes from the Livingston Manor
Central School and sled dog demonstrations by Fantasy Forest
Kennels of Taylor Valley. |
