Roscoe edges Sullivan West 50-49 in a nail biter

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Roscoe brought its State Ranked Class D team to town to take on the Lady Bulldogs on January 14. After opening up a 13-3 lead by the end of the first quarter, it looked like Roscoe was going to cruise to an easy victory. That lead should have been much smaller as Sullivan West missed lay up after lay up while Roscoe managed to make its shots. In the second quarter, Roscoe began to turn the ball over and the Bulldogs began to click. Katie Cappiello of Sullivan West got red-hot draining threes and making some great perimeter shots from the corner. Michelle Peters tied the game at 21 all.

Roscoe’s usual leading scorer Cheyenne Smith went down in the third quarter with an ankle injury and had to sit out the rest of the game. In her place, Christine Rosencranse stepped up and had a huge night. She scored 22-points, as did Cappiello of Sullivan West. The game went right down to the wire with Roscoe holding on for the win.

Roscoe’s Brian Ballard leads Blue Devil win over Sullivan West 63-55

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Roscoe led the entire game sparked by the fine play of Brian Ballard who scored a game-high 27 points. Sean Semenetz of Sullivan West had a terrific night draining four three-pointers on his way to scoring a team-leading 23. At one point in the third quarter, the Bulldogs closed Roscoe’s lead to 39-37. As the game wound down, Sullivan West tried to rely on perimeter shooting while Roscoe rebounded well and was able to run the floor well. Roscoe’s Justin Bowers had 13 points and Tim Hass had 10. For Sullivan West, Brent Rose and Joe Meyer each scored 12. Roscoe  lost this week to Tuxedo while Sullivan West lost to Chapel Field. Both Roscoe and Sullivan West ended the week with records of 4-7.
