Callicoon festival

By TOM KANE

HORTONVILLE, NY — Meeting on January 15, the Delaware Town Board authorized a folk music and poetry festival to be held at the Callicoon Creek Park on Dorrer Road next summer.

The event, which will be organized by folk singer/composer Jack Hardy and poet Laura Moran, both of Callicoon, is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2003.

Sponsored by a non-profit organization called Peacemaker Players and funded by a New York State Council on the Arts decentralization grant through the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, the proposed yearly event is called “Hosting of the Bards: Catskill’s Folk Music and Poetry Festival.”

Nationally recognized poets and folk singers will be identified through an open competition process, which is being held from January to April of 2003 in New York City.

The festival will be free and open to all.
