Shohola supervisors:
Put up your numbers!
By TOM KANE
SHOHOLA, PA —Shohola Township supervisors urged residents
at their meeting on January 9 to put their house numbers up at roadside as
directed by the 911 emergency program.
Not enough residents were conforming to the directive, according
to township supervisor George J. Fluhr. The board talked about the possibility
of passing an ordinance requiring the postings.
Without the numbers clearly posted, emergency crews—fire and
ambulance—can not find the residences.
“It’s for their own safety,” Fluhr said.
The township can provide residents with numbered house signs
if they contribute to the Roman Park Fund. A donation of $13.50 will get
a resident a sign.
Roman Park is the township park located on Twin Lakes Road
a short distance from the township building.
In other board matters, the supervisors announced that the
Shohola Township Fire Department has scheduled its annual February Thaw event
on February 22 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the township firehouse on Route
434 and Knealing Road. The annual thaw event also marks the beginning of
the Pike County election campaign season.
Tickets for the event are available from fire department members
or by calling the fire department at 570/559-7525.
