JOHN EDWARD BONDREW
LORDS VALLEY, PA — John Edward Bondrew died on Wednesday, January
1, 2003, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. He was 73.
The son of John Joseph and Agnes (Coffee) Bondrew, he was born
in Brooklyn. He was a retired sanitation worker for the Town of Hempstead,
LI, NY and an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Trail’s
End Fire Brigade. He was the widower of Florence Bondrew who predeceased
him in 1992.
Survivors include his son, John Bondrew of Lords Valley, PA;
two sisters, Mary Fredericks of Holbard, and Dorothy Bondrew of Glen Oaks;
and one niece. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph in 1992.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 6, 2003, at Stroyan
Funeral Home, Milford, PA. Burial will take place in Milford Cemetery, Dingman
Township, PA.
ELLEN KERNAN CALKINS
MILFORD, PA — Ellen Kernan Calkins of Monroeton, PA, formerly
of Shohola Falls, PA, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at the Highlands Care
Center in Laporte. She was 91.
The daughter of the late John R. and Mary Cope Massey Kernan,
she was born in 1911 in Harberth, PA. She was employed by Bell Telephone
Company as an operator. Mrs. Calkins and her first husband, the late George
Ryman, started The Ryman’s Gun Dog Kennels in Shohola Falls. She retired
in 1975.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She
was predeceased by her husbands, George Ryman and Carl Calkins, and two sisters,
Anne and Helen.
There were no funeral services at Mrs. Calkin’s request. A
graveside service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Beach
Flats Cemetery, Canton, PA.

JAMES GIBBONS
HONESDALE, PA — James Gibbons died Thursday, January 9, 2003
at his home after an illness. He was 69.
The son of the late Thomas and Ellen Brezniak Gibbons, he was
born in Kearney, NJ.
He was employed by S.J. Bailey and Sons, Furniture Company
in Honesdale for 25 years until he retired. He was a member of St. John the
Evangelist Parish, Honesdale, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Frances A. Gehring; three daughters,
Maryann Belavitz of South Canaan, Frances Mitzi Matthews of Honesdale and
Diane G. Booths of Lake Ariels; two brothers, Michael Gibbons of Honesdale
and Edward Gibbons of Cherry Ridge; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, James, and a stepmother, Mae Davis Gibbons.
A Christian prayer service was held on January 13, 2003 in
the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA. Interment followed at the
Indian Orchard Cemetery, Indian Orchard. Memorial contributions may be made

FRANCIS A. GRADY
TYLER HILL, PA — Francis A. Grady, a 60-year area resident,
died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale,
PA. He was 86.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Grady, he was born in 1916
in Scranton, PA. Mr. Grady was a retired clerk for Agway in Callicoon and
a member of Labor Grange in Calkins, PA.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Grady at home;
two children, Carolyn R. Grady of Honesdale, PA, and Charles F. Grady of
Damascus, PA; two sisters, Romaine Quinnan of Elmhurst, PA, and Anna Loretta
Dominick of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Rasmussen Sons Funeral Home, Narrowsburg,
on Friday, January 10, 2003. The Rev. George Gallandorn officiated. Cremation
will be at the Twin Tiers Crematory in Endicott.

ROSE T. GREEN
LIBERTY, NY — Rose T. Green, an 82-year area resident, died
Saturday, January 4, 2003, at the Seelig Division of the Catskill Regional
Medical Center in Harris. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Harry and Celia Redbord Teitelbaum,
she was born in 1908 in Queens. She was the widow of Sam Green and was a
retired bookkeeper for Consumer’s Coal Company.
She is survived by a son, Harold Green of Liberty; a daughter,
Karen Fox; two grandchildren and a niece.
Graveside services and burial were held at Ahavath Israel Cemetery.
The Rev. Dave McCarthy officiated.

BERNARD LAWRENCE MOLL
HONESDALE, PA — Bernard Lawrence Moll died Tuesday, December
31, 2002, at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA, after an illness.
He was 86.
The son of the late Julius A. and Rosella Schilling Moll, he
was born in Honesdale, PA. He was an army veteran of World War II serving
with the Headquarters Company, 53rd Quartermaster Base Depot in the European
theater of action. He was involved in the Northern France, Rhineland and
Central Europe battles and campaigns. He worked for the former Katz Co.,
Honesdale, PA, and the former Banner and Well-Worth slipper companies. People
danced to his piano music and no New Year was rung in without Bernie Moll
and his Band.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olga Yadlosky of Coaldale;
a sister, Grace Vergari of Waymart; an aunt, Mrs. Edwin Moll of Honesdale;
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Saturday, January 4, 2003 from the Hessling
Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary
Magdalen’s Church, Honesdale, PA, following. Interment in St. Mary Magdalen’s
Cemetery.
MARY L. REULE
LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Mary L. Reule, a lifelong area resident,
died Monday, January 6, 2003, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was 53.
The daughter of Isabelle Stewart Tuttle and the late John Tuttle,
she was born in 1949 in Livingston Manor. She was a member of the Ladies
Auxiliary to the Clarence Hoyt Post No. 9217, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in
Liberty.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick Reule at home; her
mother of Livingston Manor; two sons, John Reule of Livingston Manor and
Jeremy Reule of San Francisco, CA; three sisters, Noreen Smith and Anne McGar,
both of Livingston Manor, and Nancy Tuttle of Newburgh; three grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Thursday at the Herbert C. Bryant Funeral
Home in Livingston Manor. The Rev. Bridgette LeConey officiated. Burial was
in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

EDWARD H. SCHAEPE
HAWLEY, PA — Edward H. Schaepe died Monday, December 30, 2002,
at home following an illness. He was 64.
The son of the late Herman R. and Retta Hamilton Schaepe, he
was born in Kearny, NJ. A tool and die maker for 47 years, he owned and operated
S&S Tool in Uswick, PA for 25 years and was a Master Machinist through
ICS.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Ann Latino
at home; two daughters, Sheryl Gumble of Lakeville, and Susan Frishberg of
Manahawkin, NJ; three sons, Wayne Schaepe of New York, Paul Schaepe of Greenfield
Township, and Michael Schaepe of Hawley, PA; three sisters, Elenore Belcher
of Springville, Margaret Johnson of Melbourne, FL, and Paula Osbourne of
Palm Bay, FL; 22 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and 17 nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 3, 2003 at the Queen of
Peace RC Church. The Rev. William B. Healey officiated. Cremation by HG Smith
Crematory, Stroudsburg.

PASQUALINA SCHETTINO
MILFORD, PA — Pasqualina Schettino died on Monday, December
30, 2002, at Milford Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center, Milford, PA.
She was 89.
She was the daughter of Pelligrino and Rosa Mazzariello Pisaniello
in 1913 in Italy. She was married to Salvatore Schettino who predeceased
her in 2000.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose Anne Segal of Milford,
PA; her son, Frank of Melbourne, FL; her sister, Adelina Marrow of Italy;
2 granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

IRENE J. LUCZKIEWICS SCOTT
GREENTOWN, PA — Irene J. Scott, a 23-year resident of the area,
died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton,
PA, following an illness. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Stanley Luczkiewicz and Theresa Betlejewski
Luczkiewicz, she was born in Bronx, NY. She retired as a postal supervisor
at the United Nations in New York. She was predeceased in death by her husband
of 42 years, Joseph Scott, in 2000.
She is survived by a sister, Stella A. Perry of Swiftwater,
PA; a brother, Edward Luczkiewicz of Toms River, NJ; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held on December 16, 2002 at the Queen
of Peace RC Church. The Rev. William B. Healey officiated. Interment was
at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Hawley, PA.

JEROME W. TURNER
SHOHOLA, PA — Jerome W. Turner, died Monday, December 30, 2002,
at home. He was 66.
The son of the late Clifford and Clara (Moran) Turner he was
born in 1936 in Bronx, NY. Mr. Turner was an architectural draftsman and
a veteran of the Air Force 637th AC&W squadron.
He is survived by his wife, Marion (Barnum) Turner; two daughters,
Marion Ellen Cables of Dover, NJ, and Cathleen Reese of Cortlandt, NY; one
sister, Joan Schiefer of San Jose, CA; one brother, Clifford Turner of Denver,
CO; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience
of the family.
