Upper Delaware residents to protest in DC

By TOM KANE

CALLICOON, NY — Three busloads of residents of the Upper Delaware are joining a mass gathering in Washington, DC on Saturday, January 18 to protest the administration’s preparation for war in Iraq.

“It’s important that our representatives in Washington see that we want them to find a peaceful solution to the problems that confront us around the world,” said Karen DiPane of Callicoon, who arranged for the buses.

A coalition of groups, including the local Sullivan and Wayne Counties’ peace organizations, are sponsoring the day’s event.

“We question the motives of our administration,” said Kathy Dodge of Lake Ariel, PA. “Is it fabricating a war to protect our oil-hungry American way of life that is wasteful and unsustainable?”

For more information call Dodge at 570/698-76173 or Fran Hepburn at 845/887-6110.
