Fallsburg and Sullivan West advance in Billy Moran Tip Off Tournament

JEFFERSONVILE, NY — The boys’ basketball season opened with a memorable match-up between the Fallsburg Comets and the Tri-Valley Bears. The packed gym roared with enthusiasm as the game seesawed back and forth. It was a game that featured great scoring including the 36-point effort by Fallsburg’s Jon Hinton. Hinton’s three-point shooting in overtime made the difference in the 86-80 win by the Comets (1-0). Hinton dropped in a trio of shots from beyond the arc during the overtime. Kyle Humphrey led Tri-Valley’s scoring with a great night of shooting. Humphrey had 30 points for the Bears (0-1).

The tournament was created in the memory of Billy Moran a former Delaware Valley student who died in April 1981 during spring training for Union College. Billy was a fine athlete and great student.
